Bonnie Shapbell is the author of Hiking the Pack Line - How to Overcome Grief and Build a Joyful Life (working title) that is scheduled to be published by Pearlsong Press late summer/ early fall 2012. Hiking The Pack Line is an uplifting, positive, and practical book. We all experience loss and cannot prevent it. Sometimes a loss really knocks us for a loop. What matters is what you do about it. You can choose to crawl into a hole and mourn until you die or you can choose to rebuild a joyful life. The choice is yours. Every day, I choose to be joyful and to enjoy this wonderful gift we call life.
A new day is dawning. Will it be a joyful day? I choose for mine to be joyful. Bad things happen. But you can still choose to find peace, love, and joy all around you. After my husband/ best friend died, I chose to rebuild a joyful life. This was a conscious decision that I worked at. I worked hard to keep improving the quality of my life. I learned a lot over the last few years. My book shares what I have learned.
Pearlsong Press is my publisher. As a rookie author, who is getting her first book published, it is a great joy to use the expression "my publisher." I am still overwhelmed and awed by the experience. Wahoo! I encourage you to visit Pearlsong Press and browse our books and authors.
The Good Company link is to the Adventures in Good Company web site. That is the travel company I found a week or two after my husband, Jan (aka Jack), died. Actively looking for a way to enjoy my vacation time without Jan was a huge first step for me. It was a way of declaring to myself that I wanted to get out and enjoy my life. I saw the words "good company" and thought "yes, that is exactly what I need." So far I have had good company on 8 wonderful adventures. If you ever sign up for a trip, tell them Bonnie sent you. Maybe one of these days, we will be hiking or canoeing together.
